A biblioteca dos sonhos secretos: Uma história sobre a magia dos livros e seu poder de conectar pessoas

Five people in Tokyo, each stuck at a different point in life, visit a community center library and meet the librarian Sayuri Komachi. A young woman in a clothing store, a man in his forties, a woman who hopes to start her own business, and others each ask for a book recommendation. Komachi hands them an unexpected title along with a small felt object she has made, and the combination nudges each of them toward a decision. Michiko Aoyama links the stories so that a character in one chapter turns up in the next.

Readers who like cozy Japanese fiction about bookshops, libraries, and quiet encouragement will find it familiar and pleasing. It also works as a source of reading ideas, since each chapter is built around a real book.

Inward-looking and clear-cut; an easy read.
