About the book

Gaspar is a boy whose father, Juan, is a Black Argentine man with a rare gift: he can act as a medium for the Order, a secret society that seeks immortality through a monstrous darkness. Juan knows what the Order does to its vessels and tries to shield his son from it. The novel follows father and son across the dictatorship years, and later chronicles a group of friends in the 1980s, weaving family tragedy, cult ritual and political terror into one long horror story set in Argentina.

Readers who like literary horror in the vein of dark Latin American writing will find a long, ambitious novel here. It rewards patience, and suits anyone curious about how political violence and the supernatural can be made to mirror each other.
