About the book

Maren Yearly is a teenage girl who is abandoned by her father and left alone in a world where she cannot control a terrible hunger, as she is an "eater," one who feeds on human flesh. Camille DeAngelis follows her as she sets out across the American Midwest to find her mother and learn about her family. On the road she meets other eaters, including a young man named Lee, and tries to work out what she is and whether she can live with it. The novel combines horror with a road story and a romance.

It's for readers who like dark young adult fiction and horror with a tender center. Be prepared for violence, though the focus is on loneliness and belonging.
