About the book

Nombeko Mayeki, a girl from the Soweto slums in South Africa, grows up illiterate, but she has a gift for mathematics. She works cleaning latrines, but her skill with numbers takes her into a series of absurd episodes. An atomic bomb ends up in her possession, and she flees to Sweden. There she gets entangled with a pair of identical twins named Holger, an anti-monarchy activist, and with the Swedish king. The novel mixes dark humor with farce, as Jonas Jonasson tells it with a deadpan voice.

A good fit for readers who liked The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window. It is for those who want comic, absurd stories with a historical twist and a quirky heroine.
