El cuento de la criada

In the Republic of Gilead, a theocratic regime that replaced the United States, Offred is a Handmaid, one of the fertile women assigned to bear children for the ruling class. She lives in the household of Commander Fred and his wife, Serena Joy, and remembers her husband Luke, her daughter and her friend Moira. Her narration moves between the present and memories of the Red Centre, where Aunt Lydia trained her, and a secret relationship with the driver Nick.

For readers who like dystopian fiction rooted in real history. You get a chilling look at control over women's bodies and a story that remains widely discussed.

Deep, contemplative and thought-provoking; a moderate read.

Best for readers like The Wisdom Collector. Which reader are you?
