Graça Infinita

About the book

Infinite Jest is set in a near-future North America, in which the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are merged into one nation and years are sold to corporate sponsors. Its threads converge on three places: the Enfield Tennis Academy, where the gifted teenager Hal Incandenza trains and studies, a Boston halfway house for addicts where Don Gately works, and the pursuit by Quebecois separatists of a film so entertaining that it destroys the will of whoever watches it. David Foster Wallace weaves in footnotes, tennis theory, and addiction recovery, and he looks at entertainment, addiction, and loneliness.

It suits ambitious readers who enjoy long, digressive novels and will make time for them. The book rewards patience and rereading.
