Annie Hewitt, a former child star who has been out of work since her teen years, is making a living as a hack writer when she learns that her late grandmother left her an island in Maine. Her ex-husband's cousin, Theo Harp, a successful author of dark books, has also inherited a share. The pair, who have a history, are forced to share a house on the island for the summer and discover that the small community nearby has its own secrets. The story has a reunion of old rivals, with a dog as a third character.
A good choice for fans of Susan Elizabeth Phillips's humor and contemporary romance, and for readers who like a second-chance story with banter.
