About the book

Alix is a high school hockey player who struggles to manage her temper on the ice, leading to a suspension after a physical outburst. To learn emotional control, she approaches Ezra, a gentle peer involved in the school’s drama department. While Alix is intense and athletic, Ezra is soft-spoken and comfortable expressing his feelings. The two form an unlikely friendship as Ezra teaches Alix how to process her aggression through performance techniques. Their connection deepens into a romance while they navigate social circles, sports pressure, and personal vulnerability.

This graphic novel is for young adult readers who enjoy stories about subverting gender stereotypes and finding common ground between different social cliques. Athletes will recognize the pressure of competitive sports, while theater enthusiasts will appreciate the focus on stagecraft and emotional intelligence. Readers walk away with a better understanding of how to communicate frustration and the realization that being tough and being sensitive are not mutually exclusive traits. It offers a practical look at anger management through the lens of first love.
