About the book

Circe is the daughter of the sun god Helios and the nymph Perse, but she lacks the gifts of her siblings and is mocked in the halls of the Titans. When she discovers her talent for witchcraft, Zeus exiles her to the island of Aiaia. There she studies herbs and spells, meets Daedalus, helps Pasiphaë with the birth of the Minotaur, turns sailors into pigs, and shelters Odysseus on his way home. Miller retells myth from the perspective of a character who was a footnote in the Odyssey.

If you liked Greek mythology in school and want it with more emotional depth, this is a rich companion. It is a story about solitude and about becoming your own person among immortals.
