About the book

In Córdoba, Argentina, a group of trans women work the streets of a city park at night. The narrator is Camila, who arrives from a small town to find her place among them. Camila Sosa Villada fills the book with the women who raise her: the formidable Tía Encarna, who adopts an abandoned baby, and the rest of the community who live together in a rented house. They face violence, police hostility and poverty, but laugh, cook and take care of one another. Some scenes are tinged with magic.

It is for readers who want a vivid, funny and sometimes brutal portrait of a community living at the margins. The book shows how a chosen family can offer protection and joy.
