About the book

Presented as letters to an unnamed "friend," this novel is the account of Charlie, a freshman who is shy, observant and recovering from his friend Michael's suicide. Two seniors, the stepsiblings Sam and Patrick, bring him into their circle of mixtapes, parties and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. His English teacher Bill gives him books to read, and Charlie wrestles with a crush on Sam, a painful family history, and a trauma involving his late aunt Helen.

A good book for those who want an honest teen narrative about friendship, mental health and growing up. It leaves you with a sense of what being a "wallflower" feels like.
