About the book

Julia Beckett is a young woman who, at the age of eight, falls in love with an old house in Wiltshire called Greywethers, and years later she is able to buy it. Once she moves in, she begins to experience vivid flashbacks to the seventeenth century, where she lives as Mariana, a woman bound to the house during the English Civil War, during a love story with a man from the past. Julia's present, including a new relationship with Richard, becomes entangled with Mariana's fate. Susanna Kearsley blends a time-slip mystery with romance and a sense of place.

Readers who like historical romance that crosses time, with an old house at its center and a gentle suspense, will find this a comfortable and absorbing read.
