ಮೊಟಾರ್ ಸೈಕಲ್ ಡೈರಿ | Motorcycle Diary
In 1951, twenty-three-year-old Ernesto Guevara, then a medical student in Argentina, set off with his friend Alberto Granado on a battered Norton motorcycle named La Poderosa. They rode from Buenos Aires through Patagonia, Chile, Peru and Colombia to Venezuela. Che's diary records the breakdowns, the hunger, the odd jobs, the moments of humour, and above all the poverty he saw, including a visit to a leper colony at San Pablo in Peru. These experiences began to turn him toward political awareness.
It is for readers curious about the young man before the revolutionary icon, and for anyone who enjoys road writing with an eye for social conditions. You see a lively, observant traveller and the origins of later convictions.
Contemplative; a moderate read.
Best for readers like The Escapist Adventurer. Which reader are you?
