Mr. Wuffles is a black cat who is bored with his toys until he finds a small spaceship. The ship carries tiny green aliens, who have landed on Earth and are trying to repair their craft. The cat harasses them, and the aliens must flee, find help from the insects living behind the walls and escape. David Wiesner tells the entire story in pictures, with very few words, and the aliens use their own symbolic language. The graphic panels switch between the cat's large-scale view and the miniature world.
Children who like picture books with adventure, and parents who enjoy reading images aloud, will find lots to look at. It is also a good book for beginning readers because the story needs close attention to visual detail.
