Nora Stuart, a physician in Los Angeles who loses her job and her fiancé on the same day, goes home to the small town in Maine where she grew up. She finds that her mother, Vivian, who has always been hard to talk to, is an unfriendly woman, but she also finds an old family secret that explains many things about her past. She meets a local man, Dr. Aaron, and slowly rebuilds her sense of belonging. The story mixes romance with a mystery of the family.
It is for readers of contemporary romance and women's fiction who like small-town settings, with some humour and warmth.
Practical and clear-cut; an easy read.
