About the book

Prince Inga of Pingaree must rescue his parents and their subjects after fierce warriors from the islands of Regos and Coregos destroy his peaceful home. Armed only with three magic pearls—which provide superhuman strength, physical invulnerability, and wise counsel—Inga embarks on a sea voyage with the jolly, singing King Rinkitink and a grumpy talking goat named Bilbil. Their mission leads them across the Nonestic Ocean to confront cruel rulers and underground caverns. While the story begins outside of Oz, the characters eventually seek the intervention of Dorothy Gale and Princess Ozma to secure a final victory over their captors.

Young readers who enjoy classic fairy tales and naval adventures will find here a story centered on individual responsibility and calm thinking. The book provides a distinct perspective on the broader geography of the Oz universe beyond the Emerald City. Readers walk away with a clear example of how composure and the intelligent use of resources can overcome brute force, even when a protagonist lacks the military power of his opponents.
