The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong, Vol. 1

Shen Yuan is a cynical online reader who finishes a trashy web novel called Proud Immortal Demon Way and rants about its flaws. Then he dies and wakes up inside the story as Shen Qingqiu, a minor villain scheduled for a horrible fate at the hands of the protagonist, Luo Binghe. To survive, Shen Qingqiu has to rewrite the plot using his knowledge of what is coming, by playing the role of an affectionate teacher and steering the young hero away from vengeance. The first volume mixes wuxia cultivation, parody of genre clichés, and comedy.

If you like danmei, xianxia or stories that gently mock the tropes they use, this is a fun starting point. Expect banter, absurd situations and a growing complicated bond.

Practical, clear-cut and escapist; an easy read.
