Elisabeth, Meg and Claudia Story are three sisters who grow up in New York close to one another and are devoted to storytelling and make-believe. After their parents divorce, and a shocking event involving one of them, the sisters drift apart, and each takes a different path: one is drawn into drugs and drifts, another seeks reason and stability, and a third escapes into fantasy. Their mother Annie tries to keep the family together and eventually must face a painful choice about her daughter.
Fans of Alice Hoffman's blend of realism and magic and anyone interested in family drama about loyalty, addiction and forgiveness will find it worthwhile. Be prepared for some heavy themes.
