About the book

Tenar is chosen as a young girl to be the new high priestess of the Nameless Ones, a set of ancient powers worshipped in the desert of Atuan. Renamed Arha, the Eaten One, she lives in the Place of the Tombs, where she guards the Undertomb, a maze of tunnels beneath the temple. When a wizard named Ged, searching for a lost ring, comes into the tombs, Arha must decide whether to kill him or to listen. Ursula K. Le Guin writes this second book of the Earthsea cycle as a story of confinement and choice, set mostly in one dark labyrinth.

It suits readers who like fantasy that is quiet and inward, and anyone who liked A Wizard of Earthsea.
