Randall Munroe, the creator of the web comic xkcd and a former NASA roboticist, answers strange hypothetical questions sent in by readers, using real physics, math and engineering. What would happen if you tried to hit a baseball thrown at near light speed? How much of the internet's data could you fit in a certain space? What if everyone on Earth jumped at the same time? Each chapter takes a premise seriously, runs the numbers and explains the science, with Munroe's stick-figure drawings and dry humor. Some questions end in absurd disasters, and he includes a short section of questions that are too worrying to answer.
