Nina Browning has lived in a wealthy Nashville suburb for years, moving between charity events and the school where her son Finch is a student. Then a photo of a drunk, half-conscious classmate named Lyla Volpe circulates among Finch's friends. Lyla's father, Tom, a single parent who works as a contractor, wants the school to respond, and the school wants it to go away. Nina has to decide whether to defend her son or do what she believes is right. Emily Giffin shifts between Nina, Tom, and Lyla to look at privilege, class, and responsibility.
It is a good read for people who like contemporary fiction centered on a moral choice and for book clubs wanting a topical discussion.
Inward-looking; an easy read.
