About the book

Bilbo Baggins, a comfortable hobbit of the Shire, is visited by the wizard Gandalf and thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield, who need a burglar to help reclaim their treasure from the dragon Smaug in the Lonely Mountain. Along the way Bilbo meets trolls, goblins, and Gollum, from whom he wins a ring in a riddle contest, then passes through Mirkwood and Lake-town. The adventure ends in the Battle of Five Armies.

A fine fit for children, and for adults who want to see where modern fantasy started. You come away with a clear, warm tale of a reluctant hero who discovers resourcefulness he did not know he had.
