About the book

Homer's epic is set in the final year of the siege of Troy. Agamemnon takes Briseis from Achilles, who sulks in his tent and prays to the gods for the Greeks to suffer. When the Trojans, led by Hector, nearly burn the ships, Achilles' friend Patroclus borrows his armor and goes to fight, only to die. Achilles then returns in fury and slays Hector, dragging the body behind his chariot. The gods, who take sides, intervene all along. The poem closes with Priam's visit to Achilles and Hector's funeral.

Good for anyone who wants to read the oldest great war story in Western literature. It provides insight into honor, anger, and grief, wrapped in rhythmic poetry.
