About the book

Ten years after the Trojan War ends, Odysseus is still trying to go home to Ithaca. The poem begins late, with him held captive by the nymph Calypso while his son Telemachus searches for news and suitors besiege his wife Penelope. Odysseus eventually sails away and, in a flashback told to King Alcinous, recounts blinding Polyphemus, resisting the Sirens, visiting the underworld and losing his men. When he returns in disguise, he must plan carefully how to retake his house.

A good read for people who love adventure with monsters and gods, and for those who want to see where later quests came from. The story balances action with reflection about home and identity.
