About the book

Young Bidgood's king has been in his bathtub all day, and no one can get him out. A page, a queen, a knight and the cook each try to coax him with a suggestion: the queen suggests dinner, the knight a battle, the duke a music lesson. Each time the king calls for more, and the tub turns into a feast, a battlefield or a festival. Finally the page pulls out the plug and the water drains. Audrey Wood's rhythmic text and Don Wood's bright, oversized illustrations make it a favourite read-aloud.

It's for preschoolers and parents who like playful, silly stories. Children enjoy anticipating the refrain and the king's growing demands.
