La solitudine dei numeri primi

About the book

Alice and Mattia are two damaged children who meet as teenagers in northern Italy. Alice suffered a skiing accident that left her with a limp and an uneasy relationship with her father; Mattia, a gifted math student, lost his twin sister Michela when he left her alone in a park. They are drawn together by shared guilt and by a feeling that they will never fit in. Giordano compares them to twin primes, numbers that are close but never touch, and follows them over about twenty years.

It suits readers who prefer a quiet, emotional novel about loneliness and missed chances. The math is light, and the relationship between the two leads carries the book.
