About the book

Humans have colonised a distant planet and a small elite have used advanced technology to take the identities of the Hindu gods, controlling reincarnation and keeping the rest of the settlers in a pre-industrial state. Sam, once a crew member of the original ship, has turned against them and leads a revolt, assuming the guise of the Buddha, to bring technology and a new religion to the people. The novel mixes Hindu and Buddhist mythology, wit and battle in one plot.

Science fiction readers who enjoy ambitious world-building and the idea that gods might be engineered will appreciate it. It is also a good pick if you like fantasy that borrows from Indian traditions rather than European ones.
