About the book

Charlie is fifteen and starts at a new high school with a history of grief he does not fully understand. In a series of letters to a stranger, he describes his family, the suicide of his best friend and the seniors Sam and Patrick, who welcome him. With them he discovers music, dancing, parties and an unspoken crush. His teacher Bill encourages him to read and write, but the memory of his aunt Helen, whom he loved, begins to resurface.

For young adult readers who like confessional stories about outsiders. It offers an affecting look at friendship, first love and the work of facing the past.
