About the book

Homer's epic follows Odysseus, king of Ithaca, in his ten-year effort to return home after the fall of Troy. Stuck on Calypso's island, he is finally released by the gods and sails on a raft, where a storm lands him among the Phaeacians. There he tells his own tale of the Cyclops Polyphemus, the witch Circe, the Sirens and Scylla and Charybdis, and the death of his crew. Back in Ithaca, disguised as a beggar, he finds suitors consuming his estate while Penelope and his son Telemachus wait.

It is a basic reference point for anyone interested in the roots of Western storytelling. The poem is fast, full of adventures and also about loyalty and cunning.
