Putas asesinas is a collection of stories by Roberto Bolaño, first published in 2001 and known in English as Last Evenings on Earth's companion volume. The stories deal with exiles, writers, failures and obsessions, in a variety of settings in Latin America and Europe. They include the title story, in which a man falls in love with a woman who is a murderer's wife, and Días de 1978, a story about a friendship in Barcelona. The tales range from the comic to the sinister, and their narrators often resemble the author. Bolaño writes in a style that mixes the intimate with the strange.
It is for readers who enjoy Latin American fiction and short stories, and for those who want more of Bolaño's characters.
Deep and thought-provoking; a moderate read.
Best for readers like The Deep Diver. Which reader are you?
