About the book

Ronia is born on a stormy night in a castle that is struck by lightning and split in two by the force. Her father, Mattis, is chief of one band of robbers, and the other half of the castle becomes home to his rival Borka's clan. Growing up in the forest, Ronia explores creatures such as the Grey Dwarves and Rumpelwights, and befriends Borka's son, Birk. As their friendship deepens, the feud between the robber families puts them in conflict with their parents.

It is a children's fantasy for readers who like forest adventures and strong-willed heroines. It is a good read-aloud for families who enjoy Astrid Lindgren's wild, tender stories.
