Following the final season of the television series, Los Angeles has been dragged into a hell dimension, and Angel and his former colleagues, among them Spike, Gunn and Illyria, struggle to hold what remains of the city against demons that now rule the streets. Joss Whedon plotted the continuation, written by Brian Lynch, and this first volume sets up Angel's new role as leader and the new factions in the city.
It is for fans of the television show who want the story to continue, and it assumes you know the series, especially its last episodes. The tone remains a mix of dark humor and moral struggle.
