Le avventure di Pinocchio

About the book

Geppetto, a poor woodcarver, makes a wooden puppet that comes alive and is named Pinocchio. The puppet promises to be good but keeps getting into trouble: he skips school to see a puppet show, trusts a Fox and a Cat who trick him out of his gold coins, ignores the warnings of the Talking Cricket, and ends up in the Land of Toys. His nose grows when he lies, and his hunt for his father leads him into the belly of a giant shark. Collodi wrote it as a serial in an Italian children's newspaper.

Parents reading aloud and adults who know only the film will be surprised by how dark and funny the original is. It is a moral tale, but one with real mischief.
