About the book

Kokoro, a thirteen-year-old in Tokyo, has stopped attending school after being bullied, and spends her days at home. One day her bedroom mirror begins to glow, and she passes through it into a castle where six other teenagers, each also absent from school, have been brought together. A girl in a wolf mask tells them there is a hidden key in the castle that will grant one wish, and that they have until March to find it.

Aimed at teen and adult readers alike, this is a story about loneliness, school refusal and the slow work of trusting other people. It is for anyone who likes mystery plots that carry real emotional weight, with a final reveal that reframes the earlier chapters.
