About the book

Santiago is a shepherd in southern Spain who, after a dream repeated twice, sells his flock to look for treasure at the pyramids of Egypt. Along the way the king of Salem, Melchizedek, gives him guidance, a thief in Tangier takes his money, and a crystal merchant lets him work. With a caravan he travels across the desert, meets an Englishman who reads books on alchemy, and falls in love with Fatima. The alchemist he meets there tests his courage.

An accessible parable for readers who prefer ideas to plot detail. It leaves you with a feeling of purpose, and a story to pass on to others.
