Ella Brady, a young Irish writer, is asked to make a documentary about Quentins, the famous Dublin restaurant that has been a gathering place for the city's well-known people for decades. Maeve Binchy introduces the owners and the staff, along with the many customers who have passed through, and shows how Ella's research brings out stories of love, friendship and disappointment. Ella has troubles of her own, and the restaurant becomes a way of looking at how the city changed over thirty years.
It's a comforting novel for readers who enjoy Binchy's Irish ensemble stories and food settings. It's easy to settle into and gives a good sense of the city.
Practical, clear-cut and escapist; an easy read.
