Roverandom

“He was a very small dog, but he was a very brave one.”

Getting turned into a toy by an angry wizard feels like a nightmare. Rover has to learn how to navigate a world that suddenly looks huge and dangerous.

“The moon is a very white and silent place, and its inhabitants are very quiet.”

The moon is a much stranger place than we imagine. It has pale plants and quiet white rabbits that wait for the sun to go down.

“They played games of catch-as-catch-can and hide-and-seek among the mushrooms.”

Dogs probably have a whole secret life while we are sleeping. Rover meets another dog on the moon and they just start playing like old friends.

Losing your favorite toy can be a tragedy for a child. This story makes me wonder if those lost toys are having their own adventures somewhere far away.
