Insights from Vergonha
“I was always too much or never enough.”
Grace spends so much time trying to be perfect for everyone else. It's heartbreaking to watch her realize she was never really the problem.
“I’m not a good man, Grace. I’m just a man who wants to be better for you.”
Jackson's anger is just a shield for how much he's been hurt. Seeing him finally lower his guard with Grace felt like a literal deep breath.
The way the town treats Jackson is a reminder of how cruel small places can be. They decided who he was before he even had a chance.
“You don't get to decide who I am anymore.”
Grace finally standing up to her mother made me want to cheer. Sometimes the people who should love us best are the ones who hold us back the most.
