Two children, a brother and a sister, go to a pet store to choose a pet, and it turns out that there are so many appealing animals, such as dogs, cats, rabbits and goldfish, that they cannot decide. Dr. Seuss uses short rhymes to show their problem: each time they choose one, they like another, and finally they must make up their minds. The text was discovered after his death and published together with sketches he left.
It is for children learning to read and parents who enjoy Seuss's rhymes. It is simple and funny, and carries a gentle message about making choices.
Practical, outward-looking, growth-minded, clear-cut and escapist; an easy read.
