Crónicas de Jerusalén

About the book

Guy Delisle, a Canadian cartoonist, spends a year in East Jerusalem in 2008 and 2009 while his partner works for Médecins Sans Frontières, and he looks after their children. He draws daily life in the city: checkpoints, the separation barrier, settlements, the Old City, the different religious holidays and the differences between neighborhoods. He visits Palestinian and Israeli sites, tours with guides, and talks with locals, and he reports on his own confusion and humor. The tone is observational and deadpan.

A good pick for readers who want an accessible, personal look at the region's daily reality through comics. It follows his earlier travel books on Pyongyang, Shenzhen and Burma.
