Dusklands

“I am a man of my time.”

Eugene Dawn works in an office but sees the world as a target. He thinks data can solve his messy life.

“I am a creature of my time.”

The way Dawn treats his own child is terrifying. He treats people like files he can just delete.

“I am a hunter, a seeker after knowledge.”

Jacobus Coetzee thinks he is a hero for surviving the wild. Really he is just good at destroying things.

“I am an explorer. My life is a history of explorations.”

Civilization looks like a thin mask when these men travel. They bring their own darkness into the light.
