Mariana Enriquez portrays Silvina Ocampo, the Argentine writer who lived in the shadow of her older sister, Victoria Ocampo, a celebrated editor and cultural figure. Enriquez traces Silvina's life, her marriage to Adolfo Bioy Casares, her strange and unsettling stories and poems, and her place in Argentine literature, mixing biography with her own reading.
It suits readers of Latin American literature and fans of Enriquez, and anyone curious about Silvina Ocampo's odd fiction. It is a short, personal portrait rather than an academic study.
Balanced in tone; an easy read.
