Un couple d'enfer (Les nombrils #5)

The social hierarchy at the local high school shifts as the shallow duo of Vicky and Jenny continues to exploit their wallflower friend, Karine. Following the dramatic events of previous volumes, Karine begins to assert herself through her relationship with the brooding Albin, a change that threatens the established power balance. Meanwhile, Jenny and Vicky navigate a series of increasingly absurd romantic schemes and catastrophic dating mishaps aimed at maintaining their status. This volume focuses on the manipulative tactics used within the group and the fallout of their constant social climbing, often resulting in public embarrassment and broken ties.

Readers of humorous graphic novels and young adult fiction follow this series for its biting satire of teenage social dynamics. Adolescents see the consequences of vanity and the difficulties of standing up to toxic friends. The story provides a stark look at the obsession with popularity and the pressure to conform to beauty standards. Readers take away a cynical but humorous perspective on peer pressure, recognizing the difference between genuine connection and superficial alliances in a high school environment.

Practical, inward-looking and contemplative; an easy read.
