About the book

Lemuel Gulliver, a ship's surgeon, tells of four voyages. In Lilliput he is a giant among people six inches tall, whose petty politics mirror England's. In Brobdingnag he becomes a tiny curiosity among giants. He then visits the floating island of Laputa, where scientists are absurdly impractical, and finally the land of the Houyhnhnms, rational horses who rule over brutish humans called Yahoos. Swift's satire of politics, science and human nature was published in 1726.

For anyone who thinks Gulliver is only for children, the full text is much sharper. Read it for the jokes and for the bitterness that follows.
