The Grinch lives on Mount Crumpit above Whoville with his dog Max and cannot stand the noise and cheer the Whos make at Christmas. He decides to stop the holiday by sneaking down in a Santa suit and stealing every present, tree and scrap of food in town. Dr. Seuss tells it in bouncing rhyme, ending with the Grinch listening from the mountaintop on Christmas morning and hearing the Whos sing anyway, with little Cindy Lou Who among them.
Parents and teachers reach for it every December to read aloud, because the rhythm carries itself and the message about what Christmas actually means is simple enough for small children to grasp.
Practical, outward-looking and clear-cut; an easy read.
Best for readers like The Practical Optimizer. Which reader are you?
